Interogating the new Teleprompter – The New Errol Morris Interrotron

Interrotrons hit NY

In this brave new gadget a day world comes something actually useful. Heres something really cool. Documentary video director and best selling author Errol Morris invented a teleprompter-like setup in conducting interviews which he refers to as the “Interrotron.” |Interritron Prompter | |Interritron TelePrompter.

The teleprompter is rigged in front of the lens often a video camera); however, instead of displaying a typed script, it is used to display the image coming from a video camera focused on the interviewer who is located nearby.

So, the interview subject can be looking straight into the lens of the camera to view the interviewers face while answering instead of off in some other direction .

The camera focused on interviewer can also be arranged with a teleprompter displaying the interviewee (using the video tap output if a film camera is used on the subject). This allows the two people can be involved in a virtual ordinary conversation for the interview .

The advantage of this invention is to allow the interviewer and his subject to talk with each other while looking right into the lens of the camera.

Previously, |Before the discovery of the Interrotron both people in the conversation had to look into a cold camera lens rather than into the face of the actor in the show

Even if, the interviewer stood right up against the camera lens , the the interviewee almost always seemed to be facing the wrong way .

Morriss Interrotron is now an common prompter type found on film interview locations

Most high end green screen stages have a least two Interritrons . In New York City The American Movie Company at 212-952-1800 (www.AmericanMovieCo.com) and Teleprompter-New York.com and Production Central , Oraculum Pictures and Ventura Productions all have these useful devices .

We loved the Interrotron so much we bought two.
