I feel like sportswriters are often the most conservative, dumbest kind of journalist. I mean, if this program were discussing news blogs instead of sports blogs, can you imagine any news writer conducting himself the way Bissinger does here?

  2. thegrove26 says:

So the old sportswriter who refuses to adapt to modern times is threatened by bloggers who do his job better than him? Shocking.

  3. TheGrimGardener says:

Without a doubt, the best comment on this video.

    So true.

  4. jflash214 says:

    sour grapes from a dinosaur

  5. MissDeeCole says:

wheres the full version of this?

  6. cannabL1sS says:

this is honestly like an SNL sketch or something

  7. MPHswayze says:

Buzz calls out blogs by basically saying they’re incendiary and hateful. Uh, roll the tape of this show, buddy Biz. That’s you

We mustn’t let the dignified sportswriter lose importance! Lest we lose the Jay Mariottis and Woody Paiges of the world. Because then who will pick papers out of a hat to choose awards in baseball?!?!

He might as well be an old redneck on his porch rocking chair yellin’ “I fear change! HATE CHANGE”

  8. vivalabag says:

Costas and Bissinger are so full of shit! It doesn’t matter what these guys think anyway, the consumers are voting with their views/dollars and the print media is losing. The blogs are on fire. ESPN will always be around, but how has yahoo survived and thrived? They have adopted the blog format.

  9. tjjensen89 says:

“It pisses the shit out of me!”

  10. johntkucz says:

dang. this buzz guy’s reaction reminds me of some of hte negative disparaging criticism have received from my blogs, from parent, from a few people. Costas is right though; a popular blog typically will have decently logical views!

  11. thegod082 says:

Three Nights in August was pretty good, actually.

  12. SoulClappinBhoy says:

silly rabbit, sports are for kids!

  13. cheaptrickcharlie says:

This guy is clearly still living off of Friday Night Lights. Has he done ANYTHING nearly as good since that book?

  14. markymarkbb says:

he is a fucking hypocrite he wants to talk about blogs being dumbing down when he wants to cuss and whatever and put down will and act like a fucking kid buzz is a dick

  15. unclesmedley says:

agreed. the internet encroaches on his turf, and it must be subdued. BTW–andbody who calls themself “Buzz” should tread lightly where it comes to mocking nicknames.

  16. crapon01 says:

the time span from 00:35-00:47 pretty much sums up Buzz’s ignorance. He clearly will never be open minded about this topic, or any other for that matter. He asks Leitch the name of the guy on the blog. “Balls deep? or big daddy drew balls.” Leitch: “big daddy drew”. Buzz: “OK, so balls deep.” He clearly has made his mind up about everything already

  17. tomcarl45 says:

OK, so Bissinger doesn’t want us to talk about sports on the internet. Am I allowed to talk about sports at lunch with my friends? Or do I need a real sportswriter there to uphold the quality and integrity of our conversation? Am I required to have an editor for sports-related e-mails I send to my dad?

Wow, this guy is way beyond “doesn’t get it”.

  18. rjpsuh06 says:

I didn’t see this but what did Braylon Edwards add to this conversation?

  19. crapon01 says:

The same can be said about journalists. There are some good ones, and there are also other journals who abuse their power to influence the masses. There is a large amount of journalists who do not bother to look up stats to back up information, and just make claims that turn out to be bold faced lies. These people bother me the most. If I can find out that you’re wrong, how long would it take you to look these things up in the first place?

  20. itypeforfun says:

By posting on this wall, you are all contributing to the intellectual downfall of America.

  21. TheSecretMachines says:

Buzz gets cranky when he doesn’t get his nap.

  22. Richard1188 says:

What a self important windbag!!! We are all entitled to our opinions. We are all watching the same game Buzz is watching but for web users to type about it somehow compromises the normally intellectual sports world.

  23. huntnd says:

Any respect I had for Buzz Bissinger disappeared with this segment. Sure, he’s a good writer, but he’s turned into an angry old man.

  24. jimbo4152 says:

The internet has opened up the ability for anyone to put up anything, and it’s incredible – to say something doesn’t belong or to disagree is something you can say – but the masses that utilize the internet, and see what’s really going on.. You will be chewed up and im rambling and im not re-reading this, it probably doesnt make any sense.

  25. blunteducation says:

you mean sports dumming down the population? say it aint so!
