“Jewish” isn’t a race, it is a religion. We are all humans FFS. Maybe we should work on societal tolerance and cohesiveness instead of cultural segregation.

To give the Jews a homeland or a country of their own instead of having them wander the world like a lost race.
I would think that greece would be better suited. Israel is subject to the actions of the Saudis, Iranians and Egyptians. You would have to conquer almost all of arabia and north east africa to control it.
During WW1 there was strong lobby in Europe for Jews to have their own territory. The French/British captured Arab territory that was under Turkish domination. The British allowed Jewish migration into Palestine. After WW2 the migration increased, displacing the then current residence. The Major Powers agreed to an Israeli state in the Middle East (strong Jewish/Pro Jewish lobby which also benefited those Major Powers to have an ally in the Middle East).
Because what we know as Israel is a perfect launching point for a navy. Every great empire aimed to capture that territory, From Alexander the great to Constantine and America today.
If you are going to control Mediterranean, you need a launching point. Israel makes a fine one and that’s why it was supported when made. Also the Jews had a self-fulfilling prophecy to act out.
