Bellevue Chiropractors And “Plastic”?
Its amazing how our bodies can adapt to stress! I was telling one of my patients just yesterday how important this adaptation to stress is. With out it we would probably all have one disease or another! In my post doctorate studies in chiropractor neurology we called this adaptation plasticity. It is the bodies ability to mold to its surroundings. This “plasticity” is what causes one of my computer engineer patients to come home at the end of the day with a pain in her neck. Her body has literally molded into the poor posture that she had been sitting in all day and is causing un-needed stress.
Now these changes due to stress do not happen over night. Some take years and years to happen, but I can assure you, if the bones of the spine loose their normal position this will cause problems. Problems such as headaches, stiff and painful neck, sinus pain, jaw pain, etc… can all be the result of this process called plasticity. The good news is that the plastic nature of the body can also be a good thing! I work with plasticity of the human body every single day. As I am helping my patients regain the normal position of their spines, we are making changes in a positive direction.
How do you know if these changes have taken place in your body? First look at if you have any of symptoms that can be involved with plasticity, such as headaches, or neck pain. If any type of pain or stiffness in your spine has developed those are warning signs that changes may have taken place in your system and you are a prime candidate to be assessed by a doctor of chiropractic.
Car accidents are a big red flag that major deforming changes have taken place in your body. Many times even low impact injuries can create plasticity in the body. If you or a family member have recently been involved in a car accident please contact a Bellevue chiropractor to discuss if you are a candidate for care.
All too many times I see people who let these plastic changes to their spine cause massive damage. Do not let this happen to you. Make the changes that will allow your body to function at its peak! Call a Bellevue chiropractor today.
